    Employee Engagement, Perceived Job Autonomy, and Job Performance of Employees in KCB Bank.

    Job performance is key to business sustainability. The study examined the relationship between perceived job autonomy, employee engagement and Job Performance in KCB Bank in Uganda. The study was premised on the following research objectives: to examine the relationship between perceived job autonomy and job performance, to examine the relationship between employee engagement and job performance and examine the combined effect of perceived job autonomy and employee engagement on job performance in KCB Bank in Uganda. The study adopted a cross sectional research design along with a quantitative research approach. In this study, the researcher distributed 113 questionnaires of which only 107 questionnaires were returned representing a response rate of 94.6%. Quantitative data analysis was done using regression and correlation analyses. Study findings revealed a positive relationship between perceived job autonomy and job performance (r=0.538** p≤.01) and employee engagement and job performance (r=0.641**p≤.01). Findings revealed that perceived job autonomy and employee engagement up to 48.3% (adjusted R square = 0.483) of the observed variance in job performance. Findings revealed that employees have freedom to experiment with new ways of completing their work are able to use their skills and experience effectively to provide high-quality services and complete work related tasks on time. It was further observed that when employees are emotionally connected, enthusiastic, and committed to their roles, they are likely to produce better results. It was recommended that KCB bank should introduce flexible work arrangements to allow employees have more control over when they work as it contributes to improved job performance and work-life balance.
