Financial Resilience, Digital Literacy and Business Growth of Women-Owned Enterprises in Wakiso District.
(Makerere University Business School, 2025-07-28) Katasi Leah
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between financial resilience, digital literacy, and business growth in women-owned enterprises (WOEs) in Wakiso District. The specific objectives included: assessing the relationship between financial resilience and business growth, examining the relationship between financial resilience and digital literacy, determining the relationship between digital literacy and business growth, and exploring the mediating role of digital literacy in the relationship between financial resilience and business growth. The study employed a cross-sectional survey design, sampling 123 participants from a population of 178 WOEs through simple random sampling. Data was gathered via a structured questionnaire. The findings revealed that financial resilience and digital literacy both had positive and significant impacts on business growth in WOEs. Regression analysis further confirmed that financial resilience and digital literacy were key predictors of business growth. Based on the findings, the study recommends further research to include additional variables not covered in the model and advises stakeholders in the SME sector to develop strategies aligned with the relationships observed in this study to bolster the growth of WOEs in Uganda.
