- ItemConsultant Related Factors, Community Participation and Project Completion of Government Funded Projects in Northern Uganda.(2023) Kampire, RachealThe purpose of the study was to establish the relationship between consultant related factors, community participation and project completion of selected government funded projects in Uganda. A case of Northern Uganda. The results for the study revealed that despite periodical monitoring, evaluation and auditing done on selected government funded projects, project completion remains below required or expected standards. Hence the study objectives were: to examine the relationship between consultant-related factors and project completion of selected government funded projects in Northern Uganda, to examine the relationship between community participation and project completion of selected government funded projects in Northern Uganda and to examine the mediating effect of community participation in the relationship between consultant related factors and project completion of selected government funded projects in Northern Uganda. This study used a cross sectional research design based on quantitative data. The population consisted of 70 funded projects in Northern Uganda from which a sample of 59 was selected using a purposive sampling approach. A questionnaire was used to collect primary data from project managers, consultants and community members. Findings revealed that consultant-related factors and project completion are significantly correlated, both community participation and project completion are significantly correlated and that consultant related factors and community participation predict 59.7 percent of the variance in project completion (Adjusted R Square = 0.597). More to that, community participation mediates in the relationship between consultant related factors and project completion. On that basis it was recommended that effective communication should be in place by establishing a transparent participation channel, the projects should be actively reaching out to community members and engaging with them to understand their needs, concerns, build trust to create a sense of ownership and aspirations and that there should be community participation in decision making processes related to the project.
