- ItemRisk Governance, Stakeholder Engagement, Risk Monitoring, Control, and Improved Implementation of the Early Child Education Development Project in Uganda.(Makerere University Business School, 2021-09-16) John, SekiziyivuThe study established the relationship between risk governance, stakeholders’ engagement, risk monitoring, control and improved implementation of early education development projects in Uganda, a case of Build Africa Uganda. The study was informed that stakeholders’ engagement, risk governance, control and monitoring play significant role towards project performance. The study was guided by the four objectives which included; to establish the relationship between risk governance and stakeholders’ engagement the project; to establish the relationship between stakeholders’ engagement and risk monitoring, control in the project; to establish the relationship between risk monitoring, control and improved implementation of the project; to establish the relationship between risk governance, stakeholders engagement, risk monitoring, control and improved implementation of the project at Build Africa Uganda. The study used a case study design with quantitative and qualitative approaches in a cross-section timeline and the unit of analysis is Build Africa Uganda. Data was collected from 94 respondents using questionnaires and were analyzed using SPSS version 20 to generate descriptive, correlation and regression; as well as interview guides to generate explanatory themes. The results from the descriptive analysis indicated that the respondents agreed with stakeholder engagement, risk governance practices, monitoring and control at mean value of 4.00; the correlation results indicated that risk governance through pre-assessment, risk appraisal, risk characterization with coefficient beta of 0.346 has a positive significant relationship on stakeholders engagement; stakeholders engagement with coefficient beta 0.503 has positive significant relationship on monitoring and control; risk monitoring and control has positive significant relation on improved project performance. It is also established that risk governance, stakeholder engagement, monitoring and control have a positive significant relationship on improved project performance. Other findings from regression indicate that risk governance and monitoring and control predict improved project implementation at 95% and 99% level respectively. All variables explain 44.3% (R Square = 0.443) variation on improved implementation of project. It was concluded that only risk governance, monitoring and control explain variation on improved project implementation, thus support contingency theory. The study recommends that organization leaders and managers should focus on risk governance, monitoring and control as attributes of managing risk to support improved project implementation.
