    Ethical Orientation, Risk Management and Operational Performance of NGO's in West Nile Refugee Settlements.

    The study was designed to examine the relationship between Ethical orientation, Risk management and operational performance of NGOs operating in West Nile Refugee Settlements. Cross sectional & quantitative study design was used to examine the objectives. The objectives were to examine the relationship between Ethical Orientation and operational performance; examine the relationship between Risk management and operational performance and examine the combined contribution of Ethical orientation and Risk management on operational performance of NGO operating in West Nile Refugee settlements. The study was carried out in selected NGO‘s operating in West Nile Refugee settlement of Rhino Camp, Imvepi, Lobule, Omugo and Bidi Bidi. Stratified random sampling and purposive sampling was used to select respondent. The study population consisted of 40 NGO‘s, from which 36 NGOs were selected using Krejcie Morgan (1970) sampling frame. The results from correlation analysis indicated a positive relationship between Ethical Orientation and Operational performance of NGOs. The results further revealed a strong positive relationship between Risk Management and Operational Performance. Hierarchical Multiple Regression analysis conducted indicated that, control variables explain 13.6%, Ethical Orientation explain 19.7%, while Risk management explain 26.4% of variations in operation performance. Both Ethical orientation and Risk management combined explain 59.7% of variation in operation performance. The study recommends the NGOs to train their managers and staff on Ethical codes, integrate risk management at all levels of operation to enhance operational performance. The study was limited to NGO operating in west Nile Refugee settlements thus further studies can be conducted in public institutions in Uganda.
